WHAT IS TIRE DERIVED AGGREGATE
As a sustainable and cheaper alternative to traditional lightweight fill in civil engineering applications, tire-derived aggregate is created by reducing scrap tires into shreds. As drainage material, shreds three inches or smaller are used, while shreds six inches and more are used as permeable fill for infrastructure. The tire-derived aggregate has one-third the weight of soil and drains 10 times better than it.

A large amount of tire-derived aggregate is derived from stockpile reduction programs for civil engineering applications. For 75 used passenger tires, each cubic yard of tire-derived aggregate provides for beneficial end-use.
